Women run over 45% of the nation’s start-ups, according to PM Modi

The Prime Minister emphasised the progress India has made in the last few decades in the software and IT industries as well as the new trends in creativity and start-up culture.

The much-awaited Prime Minister Narendra Modi session brought the Startup Mahakumbh’s third day to a close. The Prime Minister spoke to the assembly, highlighting the significance of Start-up Mahakumbh and the nation’s plan to work towards becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He also had a tour of the exhibition that was on display during the event.

India is the third largest startup ecosystem with 1.25 lakh startups involving 12 lakh youth who are directly linked with them,” said PM Modi at the Startup Mahakumbh event on Wednesday. Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, Union Ministers of State Anupriya Patel, and Som Prakash were present on the occasion among others.

The Prime Minister emphasised the progress India has made in the last few decades in the software and IT industries as well as the new trends in creativity and start-up culture. As a result, the prime minister stated that the attendance of individuals from the startup community highlights the significance of today’s event.

While focusing on the nation’s start-ups’ achievements, the prime minister called attention to their creative quality. “This is indeed a Mahakumbh in its truest form creating an unprecedented energy and vibe,” he remarked, acknowledging the participation of entrepreneurs, academics, researchers, industry members, investors, incubators, and present and future businesses.

According to the Prime Minister, tiny cities are spearheading the startup movement across a broad spectrum of industries, such as space exploration, agriculture, yoga, ayurveda, medicine, and textiles. The Prime Minister went on to discuss space startups, stating that Indian companies are involved in over 50 sectors of the space industry, encompassing the space shuttle’s launch. He stated his happiness that women are leading over 45% of start-ups in the nation, whether they are in the fields of education, agriculture, or health.

In addition, he underlined how vital an innovative culture is to all of humanity, not simply Viksit Bharat. He brought up India’s Startup-20 initiative, which views startups as the engine of growth and offers a forum for international entrepreneurs. He also discussed India’s advantage in AI.

The PM recognised that through hackathons and other events, people around the world are eager to learn from Indian youth. He remarked that solutions that have been tried and tested in India are accepted worldwide. He brought up the National Research Foundation and the Rs. 1 lakh crore fund for planning and research related to future demands in the domains of the Sunrise Sector.

He also emphasised the importance that startups will play in ensuring that India becomes the third largest economy in the third term, as well as the contributions made by the country’s youth in moving the country from its 11th rank to the fifth. The Prime Minister expressed his best wishes for the future and concluded by stating that he gets new energy from connecting with the young people.

ASSOCHAM, NASSCOM, Bootstrap Incubation & Advisory Foundation, TiE, and Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA) organised the groundbreaking startup event Startup Mahakumbh, which was sponsored by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

It sought to be one of the biggest gatherings of investors, industry and ecosystem players, unicorns, soonicorns, and startups to highlight India’s entrepreneurial, technological, and innovative story.

The event, which had “Bharat Innovates” as its major topic, included pitch competitions, mentorship clinics, and a multi-track conference with leadership presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and a tonne of other activities for aspiring and established business owners.
