Key economic statistics, including US manufacturing output and retail sales, will be guiding the stock markets on Wall Street in the coming week.
A few large profits will also be made during the holiday-shortened week, including the retail chain Kroger and the IT and consulting services firm Accenture.
Economic occurrences
The Empire State Manufacturing Survey for June will be issued with data on Monday, June 17.
US retail sales data for May and an industrial production report for the same month will be announced on Tuesday, June 18.
On Wednesday, June 19, a report on the June house builder optimism index will be released.
The S&P flash US services PMI and S&P flash US manufacturing PMI for June will be released on Friday, June 21. On the same day, existing house sales statistics for May will also be made available.
Profits
The following businesses—Lennar, La-Z-Boy, KB Home, America’s Car-Mart, Accenture, Kroger, Darden Restaurants, CarMax, and FactSet—are scheduled to release their quarterly earnings in the coming week.
US markets previous week
Friday’s mixed closing of US stocks came after another decline in European markets.
To reach 38,589.16, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 57.94 points, or 0.15 percent. The Nasdaq Composite gained 21.32 points, or 0.12 percent, at 17,688.88, while the S&P 500 dropped 2.14 points, or 0.04 percent, to 5,431.6.
The Nasdaq gained 3.2% for the week, the S&P 500 gained 1.6%, and the Dow decreased by 0.5%.
From 156.90 Japanese yen to 157.29 yen, the US dollar increased sharply. The euro fell from $1.0739 to $1.0700.
The 10-year Treasury’s yield decreased from 4.25 percent to 4.21 percent.
On Friday, the price of Brent crude for August delivery dropped 13 cents to $82.62 a barrel.
At $78.45 per barrel, benchmark US crude oil for July delivery dropped 17 cents.
At $2,349.10 per ounce, gold for August delivery increased by $31.10 points. Silver increased by 40 cents to $29.47 per ounce for delivery in July.
